PREPARING YOUR FILE FOR THE LASER

Materials

The laser can cut through a maximum thickness of 6mm depending on the density/flammability of the material.

Common Materials:
Leather
Acrylic
Anodized aluminum
Fabric (cotton, wool, polyester)
Linoleum
Cardboard
Chipboard
Cardstock
Rubber
Delrin <2mm
PET-G <2mm

Banned Materials:
PVC (polyvinyl chloride)
PU (polyurethane)
PP (polypropelyne)
ABS
HDPE/LDPE
Sintra (foamed PVC)
Nylon

If your file does not follow the guidelines below, we will respond with a request for resubmission. If you would like to run the file as-is, you will incur a $10 fee for each file that is not properly prepared.

SPECIFICATIONS

No fill
Hairline strokes (significant width must be outlined)
Type must be outlined
Patterns must be live-traced if they are to include cuts.
Engraved elements must be closed shapes

We can engrave bitmap/jpg, but the engraving is the volume of the image file.   If your source image is a bitmapped image, we will assume it is an engrave, and we will cut the border of the image unless otherwise specified.  Be specific in your intent.

BEFORE YOU SEND

Double check that there are no redundant lines or unwanted artifacts and preview your file in outline mode!

Unless otherwise specified, etch and engrave intensity settings are medium, which refers to the depth and shade of the finished raster
If there are multiple engraved components at varying intensities, you must include a reference version of the file (in addition to the original file) with greyscale fill.   This may require additional back and forth, which may incur costs in queue time and or design time.
